En filigrane, une question hante le voyage : que dit-on de cette route nationale n\u00b01 \u00e0 quelques semaines de la pr\u00e9sidentielle d\u2019octobre 2025 ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Les secousses des illusions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D\u00e8s la sortie de l\u2019agence de voyage, les secousses commencent. Les nids-de-poule sur certains axes n\u2019ayant pas b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9s des r\u00e9cents am\u00e9nagements du Contrat-D\u00e9sendettement-D\u00e9veloppement (C2D) s\u2019ouvrent comme des pi\u00e8ges. \u00c0 chaque soubresaut, un passager l\u00e2che une exclamation. \u00ab C\u2019est \u00e7a une ville compl\u00e8tement r\u00e9nov\u00e9e ? \u00bb ironise Pascal, \u00e9tudiant en transit vers Garoua. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Son voisin r\u00e9plique : \u00ab Depuis 20 ans, on nous promet une r\u00e9habilitation\u2026 mais regarde ! \u00bb. Les affiches ponctuent le trajet jusqu\u2019au pont Makabaye \u00e0 la sortie de la ville : \u00ab\u00a0des travaux \u00e0 peines livr\u00e9s, on voit d\u00e9j\u00e0 des barricades qui pr\u00e9viennent des r\u00e9fections sur certains axes\u00a0\u00bb, commente Bintou, une native de Maroua. Ici, les promesses politiques ne s\u2019affichent pas seulement sur des panneaux, elles s\u2019\u00e9prouvent dans les flaques d\u2019eau sur le bitume et les suspensions us\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Garoua, la belle aux eaux dormantes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c0 Garoua, le contraste frappe. Ville propre, ordonn\u00e9e, les mototaxis ob\u00e9issent aux feux, les rues respirent. Le bus s\u2019arr\u00eate pour le carburant, et les passagers s\u2019\u00e9parpillent dans le march\u00e9, le souffle coup\u00e9 par la chaleur. Mais derri\u00e8re cette fa\u00e7ade de modernit\u00e9, le chemin vers Ngaound\u00e9r\u00e9 promet encore mille secousses. Les 279 kilom\u00e8tres \u00e0 venir sont une succession de d\u00e9fis : routes caboss\u00e9es, virages tra\u00eetres et conversations enfi\u00e9vr\u00e9es. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La pr\u00e9sidentielle d\u2019octobre 2025 se glisse entre les si\u00e8ges. \u00ab Chaque sept ans, ils promettent de refaire la route\u2026 Regardez ! \u00bb s\u2019\u00e9nerve le chauffeur. \u00ab Mais des travaux sont en cours \u00bb, r\u00e9pond un passager. La RN1 devient alors une ar\u00e8ne o\u00f9 chacun mesure la distance entre parole et r\u00e9alit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sur des chemins difficiles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Badankali, un camion charg\u00e9 de conserves, renvers\u00e9, bloque le passage. Des femmes proposent arachides bouillies et s\u00e9same aux voyageurs immobilis\u00e9s. Ici, la route est une art\u00e8re vitale : commerce et circulation s\u2019entrelacent. La RN1 n\u2019est pas qu\u2019une route nationale, elle est transnationale, reliant le Cameroun au Tchad et au Nigeria. A\u00efssatou, commer\u00e7ante de Garoua, r\u00e9sume : \u00ab Quand les camions n\u2019arrivent pas, tout augmente. \u00bb La RN1 n\u2019est pas qu\u2019une voie de transport : elle pulse, respire et blesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ngaound\u00e9r\u00e9, cicatrice et carrefour<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e de la ville, le bus s\u2019arr\u00eate devant l\u2019Universit\u00e9. Les \u00e9tudiants descendent, rient et \u00e9tirent leurs bras fatigu\u00e9s. Ngaound\u00e9r\u00e9, carrefour du Nord et du Sud, porte les stigmates du voyage : poussi\u00e8re rouge, ralentisseurs improvis\u00e9s et regards inquiets des habitants. Dans cette ville, chaque fissure est un jugement, chaque bosse un symbole. Pendant les heures d\u2019escales ici, intrigues et blagues s\u2019invitent parmi les passagers. Sur les banquettes install\u00e9es dans la salle d\u2019attente de l\u2019agence, un jeune \u00e9tudiant tchadien l\u00e2che en sirotant son th\u00e9\u00a0: \u00ab Cette route, c\u2019est le nerf de l\u2019Afrique centrale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mais elle est trait\u00e9e comme une piste de village \u00bb. \u00ab Celui qui r\u00e9pare la route aura nos voix \u00bb, confie un vieux vendeur. C\u2019est \u00e0 bord d\u2019un second bus immatricul\u00e9 LT 708 LX estampill\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Confort VIP\u00a0\u00bb que les passagers reprennent la route. Le trajet qui va de Ngaound\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Garoua Boulai est moins contraignant. Mais nids de poules et surprises s\u2019invitent \u00e0 l\u2019aventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L<strong>a RN1, miroir du Cameroun<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deux jours plus tard, 12 septembre, 6h35. Le bus atteint Yaound\u00e9 apr\u00e8s 37 heures de voyage. Visages creus\u00e9s par la fatigue, yeux empreints d\u2019histoires et de paysages travers\u00e9s. La RN1 n\u2019est plus seulement une route : elle est un verdict silencieux sur le Cameroun, un miroir des fractures et des frustrations, une art\u00e8re o\u00f9 se jouent dignit\u00e9 et citoyennet\u00e9. Chaque kilom\u00e8tre parcouru est une le\u00e7on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Chaque secousse un rappel : la route, c\u2019est la voix du peuple. En octobre, les passagers de la RN1 voteront non seulement pour des candidats, mais pour la dignit\u00e9 de circuler, de commercer, de vivre pleinement dans un pays qui ne les oublie pas. \u00ab\u00a0La route est devenue un terrain \u00e9lectoral. En octobre, ce sont eux, les usagers de la RN1, qui auront la parole. Et dans l\u2019urne, ils ne voteront pas seulement pour un candidat.
